Recognizing Users for Custom Domains (Web1.0 Hosting matters)

by balloon ⌂, Japan, Sunday, June 08, 2025, 22:51 (4 days ago)

Hello. I recently found out about this place and registered.
When using from Japan, I feel slow response, especially with FTP.
Still, I'm having fun.

As I was creating the web, I had a question.

When setting up a custom domain, what part of the domain recognizes the username?

The FAQ page explains:

You have a site called mysupermegawebsite.w10.site, then you can link the following domain names: mysupermegawebsite.com same as mysupermegawebsite.mydomain.com

If I set up a domain called "sub.example.site" ,Does the server check for "example" or "sub"?

I set one up to try and it showed me this forum.
Somehow, depending on the domain name used, I figured it wouldn't work well.

Hello, Turboblack
I saw you in action, including HamsterCMS. :-)

hello :-)

the server will check for SUB in "sub.example.site"

I was looking to see if this would work in a (sub)domain like EU.org for example.
(HamsterCMS uses old.net.eu.org , so you know that)

I set one up as a test and got the response I expected.
Thanks for the reply. :-D
